Much of what you are about to read is history of Middle-earth as well, yet I only included that which Kedwyr would have known about or came in contact with considering his location at the time of such events. Consider it a small example of Historical Fiction.
Born in the year 275 of the First Age as one of the Laiquendi, Kedwyr lived a quiet life with his people in Ossiriand along the eastern border of the Taur-Im-Duinath.
In the year 310 FA, Kedwyr hears word of a new race of people from over the eastern mountains now migrating westward into Ossiriand. Kedwyr, along with the other Laiquendi, did not trust them and promptly urged them to settle elsewhere outside of Ossiriand. Over the next few years, the Laiquendi had to urge the continuing migration of men to head elsewhere and not settle in Ossiriand. Eventually the tribes of men settled Beleriand.
In the year 455 FA the Battle of Sudden Flame begins. Fingolfin in single combat dies at the hand of Morgoth leaving Ereinions' father, Fingon, the High King of the Noldor. For his protection, Fingon sends Ereinion to the Havens of Falas for he was still very young at the age of five. The Laiquendi continued to fight Morgoth with the other elves, but being lightly armed and armored, and having gone through a long peace with little need for training in battle, they took terrible losses......including the loss of their King, Denethor. At his death, the Laiquendi became reclusive and were seldom seen in large groups.
469 FA. Beren and Luthien Tinuviel settle on Tol Galen with their second mortal life. Kedwyr meets them and they tell him many tales of the previous years and Kedwyr is made aware of the great need of the northern elves and men in their battle against Morgoth but cannot rally the Laiquendi to aid them.
473 FA, Kedwyr is made Marchwarden over the Taur-Im-Duinath and begins his duty of patroling the woodland. A few years later, Ereinion, while patroling the very same woodland, meets Kedwyr and the two become fast friends. Ereinion tells Kedwyr of the last few years, the battles and the loss of Falas along with Ereinions father Fingon and Turgon assuming the throne. The two enjoy a somewhat peaceful few decades together patroling the woodland.
510 FA Morgoth attacks Gondolin and slays Turgon. With a heavy heart, Ereinion assumes the throne and leaves the name of Ereinion behind him, now assuming the name Gil-galad henceforth. This last battle from 510 to 590 left all of Beleriand open for attack by Morgoth as he destroyed all who opposed him. After the decimation, he noticed a few pockets of elves and men and decided to leave them be as he did not consider them a threat. Among them were the Laiquendi. Also among those Morgoth chose to ignore was Earendil who sailed to Aman with a final plea for the aid of the Valar. Help did come, as a full Host of the Valar sailed out of the West and laid siege to Angband, breaking it open, routing his forces, and ultimately sending Morgoth out of Ea permanently.
This great battle was so powerful that in the aftermath, Beleriand sank beneath the sea. The Edain were given the Isle of Numenor and the remanents of Ossiriand renamed Lindon, were given to Gil-galad who ruled in Forlindon (North Lindon) with Elrond half elven and Kedwyr who became an advisor. Cirdan, along with Celeborn and Galadriel, decided to settle Harlindon (South Lindon). Kedwyr would sail between the two realms to hear counsel of the elven lords in the coming years.
At the beginning of The Second Age, Cirdan builds the Grey Havens. Forty years later, the Naugrim migrate east out of the Blue Mountains and settle in the Misty Mountains, building Khazad-dum. Kedwyr lives in peace for many years.
In 600 SA Kedwyr sights ships landing in the Grey Havens. Numenor meets the elves and they become friends. One-hundred and fifty years later, the last of the Noldor, lead by Celebrimbor, head east and settle in Eregion.
1000 SA, a stranger appears in Lindon, calling himself Annatar, who offers friendship and gifts to Gil-galad. Gil-galad does not trust him and sends him away. Annatar then goes to the elves of Eregion and befriends their smiths by showing his own smithing skills. After many hundred years of befriending the elven smiths, Annatar convinces them to forge great rings of power. Kedwyr agrees with Gil-galad on doubting this Annatar and his mistrust grows as does Celebrimbors.
Between 1600 and 1690 SA, great doom was felt in Middle-earth and Celebrimbor comprehends Annatar to be the Dark Lord Sauron and knows of his plan to dominate the free peoples. The elven smiths too now sense his shadow and quickly hide the three rings of power they created unbeknownst to Sauron, but nine rings created for the lords of men soon corrupt and enslave their bearers and thereby creating powerful servants for Sauron. Kedwyr is shaken by the news when he hears of this. In 1697 Sauron attacked Eregion, slaying Celebrimbor and laying waste to the realm. Elrond retreats to Imladris with the remaining Noldor, while Kedwyr and Cirdan remain in Lindon. 1699 to 1700 SA. Sauron conquers Eriador and Gil-galad requests aid from Numenor who send a great navy that routes Saurons forces and defeat him. The free peoples enjoy peace for a few hundred years.
2251 SA. Darkness begins to creep back into the lands and the nazgul make an appearance. 3102 to 3177 SA. Numenor, through jealousy of the elves and their immortality, forbid them entrance into their lands and forbid any of the residents of Numenor from speaking the elven languages. 3262 SA. The king of Numenor captures Sauron and then falls under his bewitching lies. Persuaded both by his jealousy of the elves and Saurons counsel, he takes Numenor to war.....against Aman. Hoping to conquer them and claim the land and its immortality for his people. Yet, some of Numenor resist this madness and sail east to Middle-earth under the command of Elendil and his sons Isildur and Anarion.
Numenor is destroyed by the Valar as are those who waged war with them. Yet the Valar showed mercy to The Faithful, granting them long life. Upon landing in the Grey Havens, Elendil becomes friends with Gil-galad and Kedwyr. Gil-galad builds the White Towers for Elendil, and Elendil reforges their old alliance of men and elves. 3320 SA. Elendil establishes the kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor, giving joint rule of Gondor to his sons Isildur and Anarion, and there is a short period of peace. 3429 to 3441 SA. Sauron attacks Gondor. Gil-galad and Elendil form an alliance to oppose Sauron. Gil-galad leads a great elven host east out of Lindon. With this host went Elrond half-elven who served as Gil-galads herald, Cirdan the Shipwright, and Kedwyr Huinehtar who could not convince any of the other Laiquendi to aid in the battle. Gil-galads host meets up with Elendils army at the Tower of Amon Sul, and together they move to Imladris with a force so large it has never been equaled. From there they cross the Misty Mountains and head south along the Anduin. To Kedwyrs joy, many wood elves join them along the way, increasing the force greatly. Among the wood elves went Amdir of Lothlorien, and both Oropher and Thranduil of Greenwood the Great.
The siege of Barad-dur begins in 3434 SA. During this time, Anarion, one of Elendils sons is slain by a falling boulder near Barad-dur. Then one year later, both Gil-galad and Elendil face Sauron who enters the battlefield from his tower. During the battle, Kedwyr is mortified as Sauron grabs Gil-galad by the neck, hoisting him up in the air, and by his black hand, Gil-galad is consumed by flame thus ending his life and lineage. Stunned by the loss of his friend, Kedwyr can only watch in continued horror as Sauron turns and slays Elendil. Isildur finally takes his fathers broken blade and cleaves Saurons hand, seperating the One Ring of power from him thereby defeating Sauron and ending the battle. At the beginning of the Third Age, Kedwyr in grief both by the loss of his good friend Gil-galad and the empty throne that Gil-galad left behind due to him having no heir, retreats with Cirdan back to Lindon. Kedwyr began to slide into despair and grief and soon his life would be spent, were it not for Cirdan. Cirdan broke his despair and convinced Kedwyr to join him in aiding the Dunedain of the North in defending the remains of Eriador and Arnor. many years later, the Istari arrive in Middle-earth and Cirdan bequeaths the Ring of Power called Narya over to one of the Istari named Mithrandir. Hobbits enter Eriador and Kedwyr is amused by this new race of people. Kedwyr and Cirdan secretly continue defending the northern realms with the Dunedain. Cirdan convenes with the Eldar and the Istari in the first White Council while Kedwyr remained in Lindon.
The Witch King moves to Angmar in 1300 TA and Kedwyr senses his great evil. Shortly after, The Witch King invades Arnor/Arthedain. Cirdan and Kedwyr, after the death of King Arveleg I, aid the kings son Arapher, driving the forces of Angmar back and saving the northern kingdoms of old Arnor. Yet only a few hundred years later, in the year 1974 SA, the Witch King attacked again. King Arvedui retreats to the frozen lakes in Forochel and his son Aranarth escaped to the Grey Havens seeking aid from Cirdan. A great fleet from Gondor joined forces with Cirdans' elven host from Lindon as well as the remainder of the Dunedain. At the Battle of Fornost they defeat the Witch king of Angmar.
1975 TA...... The Dunedain become a wandering people having suffered great losses in the last great battle. Kedwyr, weary of war, begins to despair. He remained alert to news of the following battles, but did not take part in them. Instead, he chose to live in seclusion, much like the Dunedain rangers and secretly he aided them in defending the northern lands. In 3018 TA, Cirdan requested a messenger to be sent to Rivendell. Though he asked Kedwyr at first, he chose Galdor when Kedwyr refused to go. Cirdan, concerned about Kedwyrs despair, had him sail between Harlindon and Forlindon to seek the counsel of his fellow elves and regain hope by keeping him on the western side of the Blue Mountains, away from the wars. During one such voyage, Kedwyr was struck down and fell overboard, washing up on the shores of Falathlorn. Now seperated from the last of the Laiquendi, he struggles to adapt to the ways of the people he had secretly protected for so many years.
