What We Expect of Representatives of Our Kinship:
~ Lond Treneri is a "good" or "neutral" Kinship. We are good representatives of Landroval's community and help other players both IC and OOC. If you are seeking a "dark" or "villain" type Kinship involved in heavy violence or crimes against other Free Peoples, we are not the group for you.
~ We play IC (in character) all the time. We have the /rp on flag turned on at all times. We use /tell, another private channel, or (()) when we're OOC (out of character). If you aren't comfortable with playing IC all the time, this is not be the Kinship for you. If you are in a lengthy OOC or argumentative discussion in global or OOC channels, please move your chat to a private channel. Members who troll chat to flame or argue are not good representatives of our Kinship.
~ Members must be level 20 or above. This is a recent decision to help filter out folks who bounce from Kinship to Kinship to level their characters or get items. This also prevents our Kinship roster and application area from becoming cluttered with inactive players who were on a free trial. Exceptions can be made on an individual basis. Having a higher level alt or returning to the game after an absence are legitimate reasons to appeal; other circumstances can be considered as well. Just ask me.
~ Kinship chat is IC. We have a custom channel for OOC. Contact me or an Officer for more information on how to join the channel. Some people turn this channel off to minimize distraction during questing or role-play. Please respect them by giving them the quiet and privacy they need.
~ We try to keep OOC chat PG-13 though we occasionally slip up on the language. Use a private channel for long OOC conversations so you don't bother others. This includes conversations about religion, politics, and sexuality. We respect the diversity and opinions of our friends and Members but Kinship OOC chat is not the appropriate place to discuss these matters. You will be asked to leave chat and use a private channel.
~ Membership is on an application and promotion basis only. To become a Recruit, an Applicant submits an application on our Forums. I, and the Officers, will help you get to know the Kinship and to understand all expectations and requirements. We volunteer our time to help and should not be harassed by an Applicant to donate our service.
~ Members must be at least 18 years old or display mature, respectful behavior. Some people are just as disrespectful at the age of forty than many younger folks. This is evaluated individually.
~ Be considerate to other gamers and a good representative of the Kinship. Any behavior that could potentially get you reported to Admin will immediately have you expelled from the Kinship with no grounds for appeal. This includes gold buying, harassment, and being disrespectful to other gamers.
~ Respect and help your Kinsmen. Some people play slowly and others grind out levels as fast as they can. Others like crafting and some are only playing to RP. Keep in mind that our Members have many different goals that equally deserve respect.
~ Respect and help the players of the community. We do not criticize the playing styles of others in any public chat channel. We do not harass players because of annoying or intrusive gaming. If there is a problem or conflict with another player and it cannot be resolved with maturity and respect, speak with an Officer or me as soon as possible to mediate the situation. The reputation of the Kinship helps us continue to be a group of quality and integrity and behavior that is detrimental to our reputation is not tolerated.
~ Many Kinships have a policy that Members cannot have alts in other Kinships. Applicants, Recruits, and Members of our Kinship are permitted to have characters that are in another group or independent. Please respect your other Kinship's policies about Membership if you have characters in their group. If you have alts in another Kinship, you are expected to respect our Kinship equally. Constant comments about how a player's "real Kinship" functions or comparisons between the groups hurts the morale and sense of community in our Kinship. Disrespecting our rules and traditions or abuse of our policy concerning alts that harms our pride and sense of friendship may lead to dismissal.
~ Our Kinship offers many resources including our time and help. Members and Officers are not a free power-leveling service. The Kinship does not tolerate constant requests for assistance. An Officer is usually on duty to answer questions, and if time permits, to help with quests. There are many resources to help with game-play and role-playing on the Kinship's Forums and various websites. Kinsmen should try these sources first. The game is the leisure time of the Officers and myself as well. Please respect this.
~ The Kinship House took weeks of hard work to acquire. It is available to Kinsmen, friends, and visitors for role-play and gatherings. Upkeep for the Kinship House is 355 silver per week. Members and Officers are expected to donate what they can to help pay the rent.
~ We do not tolerate applicants, Recruits, or Members who constantly beg for resources, money, or items. The Kinship House has trunks that are accessible by Members and Officers where we store surplus items that are free for all to take. Please leave housing decorations in the trunks. These are meant for use in the Kinship House. Players who abuse the resources in the Kinship Trunks (by taking and reselling items or taking a large share without providing items in return) will be dismissed. There is an option on the Auction Hall to post items that are available to Kinship Members only. Click the box at the bottom of the posting screen to post your items at reduced cost for your Kinsmen.
~ The Kinship's Forums are it's most important tool. Members must be registered on Forums and are expected to utilize them. All events and changes are posted on Forums as soon as possible to prevent confusion and to allow Members to contribute opinions and to participate. No one is left out of Kinship events or storylines; group-wide activities are posted on Forums and only the player is at fault if they are excluded because they did not check the Forums.
Thanks for reading all this! I felt like everything needed to be laid out clearly, and in writing, to avoid conflicts and confusion.
Travel well!
