All right, I hope that you're only reading this out of curiosity, because you saw it stickied at the top of the page. If you've been sent here, there's something wrong. Take these words seriously, even though they may have some humor. Bear in mind the door to this Kinship has hinges like a saloon, which is to say it swings both inward and outward. Commit anything listed here, and you could find your backside kicked out so fast that you taste yesterday's lunch.
Assuming you've read the "What We Expect of Our Members" thread above, we won't reiterate too much. There are two important points that are worth repeating, however:
~Be considerate to other gamers and a good representative of the Kinship.
Remember that you're always wearing a little tag over your head that reads <Lond Treneri>. Even when you're anonymous. It doesn't go away. Show your tail end in a public place, disrespect someone in a fellowship or just be rude to someone from another Kin, and you can rest assured the Officers here are going to know about it. Word gets around. When it does, we hope that the word is good.
~Respect and help your Kinsmen. (My emphasis added.)
I think this one goes without saying. If you cannot respect your own kinsmen (or kinswomen), can you expect to be respected yourself? Everyone in this Kinship is a little different. Different rp styles, different play schedules, different likes and dislikes, both in character and out. You don't have to agree with them, but we're all here for a common reason, to have fun. Make it un-fun for any of your Kin and risk the consequences.
Remember these two and most problems will be avoided. Here's a few other things while we're at it:
~Don't use the Kin as an ATM or Shopping Mall.
We all have a crafter or two (or six). We can all use the [50 <rare ore or material>] that So-and-so just mentioned they have just dropped off in the Kin house or Kin AH (Didn't know we have Kin Auction? Check the button on the AH menu.) but that doesn't mean that you have carte blanche to snatch it all up before anyone else and horde it. Or worse yet, resell it. Be respectful (see above). Take what you need, pay fairly for it and try to give back if you can. This applies to anything that you might find in the Kin house, or AH. Costumes, dyes, food, etc.
~Erotic Role Play (ERP) or "cybering" in public channels, to include the Kin Chat.
I have to admit, I was stunned when this was brought up. The large majority of us are adults, and we can get a little crude on occasion, both in-character and out. But this strikes me as just rude. Some of the World of Warcraft veterans here undoubtedly have Goldshire stories, over-hearing someones IC bedroom romp. No really, none of us here want to hear it. Take it to a private chat. Also remember, crude as we sometimes get, there's a basic guideline of PG-13 in our chat channels.
~Stalking or harassing another player.
I really have to go into this one? All right. Consult the first two points about consideration and respect. If you find yourself obsessed with some stranger's on-line avatar, or the person behind that avatar, now is the time to push your computer chair back away from the keyboard, stand up and wade through the empty Mountain Dew cans and go take a break. Remember what it's like to talk to a real person. Face to face. It's different if both players are consenting, but if you spend your time pursuing an unrequited relationship with someone you've never really met, you may have a serious problem. Seek help.
~Not Role Playing.
I know there's quite a few excellent Role Players in this kinship. There rest of you who are merely phenomenal. Some of us consider ourselves humbly less than that. Whatever your level of expertise, at least try to stay in character in your /says and in Kinship chat. Many of us old-timers are more than happy to assist you with details regarding your biographies, Tolkien lore, and helping you develop your character(s) so they're fun to play and play with. We also have an OOC chat channel of our own so that we can converse on a wide variety of topics without disturbing the Role Play environment. If you lack the ability to differentiate between a conversation between an Elf and Human minstrel discussing the differences in their musical styles, and whether Metallica was better before or after the Black album, you might want to reconsider your RP choice. Ultimately, this is least disturbing and easiest to avoid offense.
This shall be a living document, to be updated as I see fit.
