Greetings all!
This seems to be the spot where I'm supposed to tell you a bit about myself as an officer of Lond Treneri, so here goes!
In real life, I'm a 39 year old self-employed golf car mechanic/customizer/salesman. I first read The Hobbit when I was 8 and the trilogy shortly after that. For many years, I read the books religiously once a year, I enjoyed them so much. Yes, I'm that kind of geek. I'm currently trying to read the Silmarillion, which is the ancient history of Middle-Earth that Tolkien first started writing in 1917 and edited throughout his life. This is like trying to read the dead sea scrolls just for the fun of it.
I started playing role-playing games (Dungeons and Dragons and the like) about the same time I first read The Hobbit and it has been a life-long hobby. Yep, that's over 30 years the way I count it, or 210 in dog-years. I still play once a week, usually on the weekend, which is one of the reasons why Cancalan is never around when all the fun is happening. The other is that I still play on Winfola with my main character(s).
A couple of weeks ago, Maewynne told me that she was thinking about transferring to Landroval, because RP is all but non-existant on Winfola. As one of her RP buddies, she asked me to create a character (Ok, it wound up being three characters, I'm sometimes worse than she is when it comes to alts.) and give her my opinion. Well, here we are and there you have it! She transferred her characters (Anormorn will miss the innocent young minstrel Maewynne) and Lond Treneri was created! I kept Cancalan and for my advice and help with the elvish translating, I seem to have become an officer.
Cancalan is an elf from far south Edhellond, nearer to the lands of Man called Gondor. He is broadly built and well muscled for an elf, hinting at his unusual history. He considers himself a Herald of War rather than a Minstrel, and has only recently learned to play a lute and use his voice to sing, rather than carry a blade and transmit commands and deliver hope to the troops as he did in his long past. He can be focused and sometimes terse when in combat, but is also fairly gregarious for an elf in social situations, particularly around the race of Man, of whom he seems to be fond. He can often be found translating Elvish phrases for Maewynne and indeed, his name means something in Sindarin. He's not shy, feel free to ask him!
