General
How does your character feel about herself?
Ceallian sees herself as being a very simple, home-oriented person. She thinks she is better suited to domestic life rather than adventuring. She has social problems and is only comfortable when being utterly polite to the point of coldness at times because she feels that her position in life is very inappropriate for a young lady of decent upbringing.
How does she feel about her race and choice of profession?
Cay only thinks of her race in comparison to other races when the matter is brought up by others. She prefers to point out the similarities between folks rather than the differences. Only her status as one of the Second-Born and a mortal is in her thoughts as an issue that cannot be resolved with diplomacy. As for a profession, Cay has two. The first, which she most actively participates in, is as a warrior-healer. She is at odds with her trade because she is by nature very, very passive and non-violent. But she also cannot stand back when anyone is hurt or in danger and not help them, even if it puts herself in harm's way. This path is her trade for now, but she feels that her real calling is in more domestic pursuits. She farms, keeps a household including cooking and sewing, and likes to brew ale. Eventually she would like to retire to a pastoral life like this and own her own tavern in a quiet place, teaching music out of her business.
How interested is your character in intellectual pursuits?
Ceallian loves to learn. She is a very slow, methodical reader and a careful writer. She prefers hearing or doing to learn rather than reading for knowledge. She is not fond of the loftier pursuits of scholars, concerning the meaning of life, love and war. She is eager for practical knowledge and would like to know more about the Valar, though not really in a philosophical way.
Is her physical health important to her?
Ceallian's health is not much of an issue. As a healer with a gift from divinity to help herself and others, she is never really ill or badly hurt unless she is so suddenly incapacitated she can't tend to herself. She cares little for her physical safety in combat but otherwise she tries to take good care of herself so she can take care of others.
Does she think situations through or react on instinct?
Cay tries to plan ahead for situations that she knows will involve more people than herself. Above all else she worries that her plans and decisions will effect her friends in a negative way and harm them disproportionately to the good the actions may bring about. In battle and in healing, she is a creature of pure instinct, entering a state a bit like euphoria or dreaming.
How important is her personal happiness?
No one consciously wants to be miserable. Ceallian though puts the happiness of all the people she cares for before her own, though in meeting Phaerel, whose happiness relies so much on her state of peace and satisfaction, she's begun to rethink this.
Does she follow a schedule or just go with the flow?
She follows as much of a schedule as traveling will allow. She's pretty structured, as much as one can be when living as a warrior who is not part of an organized military force.
How well does she handle receiving orders?
Ceallian's life is constantly changed and motivated by the wishes of people. If someone has a task for her and she feels that it is for the greater good, she can follow orders explicitly with no argument. If she has reason to doubt the motivation behind such requests, that's a bit different though she approaches her own rebellion quietly and with diplomacy.
What importance does she place in material possessions?
Since Ceallian lost her home to a fire and in turn lost nearly everything she owned, she has little value for material riches. She says frequently that wealth can be broken from even the tightest grip. She lives in a constant state of surprise that even though she started her life as a traveler with no money and only a lute and a blade, she now has a home, a horse, trunks of armour and weaponry, and a huge hall for the use of her Kinship. She never imagined such a simple and non-materialistic lass such as herself would have so many belongings. In a situation that demanded it, she would give up these things with little thought, however.
What would she do if her favorite material possession was stolen?
Her favorite personal possessions all have meaning. She has an acorn from her Dwarven guardian, who returned to his own lands and family and left it for her to remember him by; a lute among other instruments that have served her very well in battle that were a gift from a friend, and a gown that her admirer purchased for her. All of her prized possessions are emotional in value but if she lost them, she would be sad but still have her memories. If her treasures were stolen, Cay would likely assume the thief needed something more than she did and would be better off with the item. If it was lost in fire or battle, she would shrug it off with little heartache.
What does your character do in her spare time?
The spare time Ceallian enjoys when she's not traveling, fighting, healing folks, and tending to the needs of her friends, is taken up with happy, simple domestic chores. She likes to garden, sew, cook, and brew beer. And of course play songs and tell stories.
Is she open about her personal feelings?
No. Superficially Ceallian will express politeness, amusement, confusion, and similar emotions. She tries to be polite above all else, though not lie. So she covers most of her feelings with a polite and evasive manner. She does not let people know when she's afraid or angry, signs to her of weakness that a symbol that is meant to bring hope and light in battle cannot express. She is also very lonely and alone in the world, so after losing her family she tends to be very close about true emotions and any feelings for people beyond friendly caring.
Does she ever feel trapped?
Yes. Ceallian lives a life that until recently was an existence trying to escape a trap. She feels confined by the gifts she has from the Valar, unable to stop herself from using her talents to harm and heal but tortured at the same time by her desire to settle down and lead a simple life. She feels an obligation to bring light to folks walking in the dark, and this is as much a trap as serving as a slave in a mine. She also fled a marriage when she took to the road after her parents died; until lately, when she heard of her husband's death, she lived under a different name, using an incredilby shy manner to keep men at a distance so she would not be forced to lie about her marital status. She was sold into the marriage by her father, who was swayed with gifts and favors, and for months suffocated in the feeling that she was going to live in a cage her whole life.

Temperament:
In general, what moods does your character display?
Cay is usually a very quiet, pleasant person. She's usually shy even around people she knows well and uses her manners to portray demure pleasantness even if she's in a different mood. When she's alone or with a very trusted friend, at times she is thoughtful and troubled.
Can she keep her cool in a tough situation?
Mostly. She's only panicked a few times when she's been very scared or hopeless. But overall she's pretty methodical and cool-headed.
Does he get upset or bothered easily?
Not visibly. Most things don't bother her unless she feels harm may come to a friend.
Moral, ethical, and religious beliefs:
Ceallian doesn't have very structured religious beliefs. Her father was an expatriot of Rohan and her stepmother who raised her was a Bree-Lander, so their religious views melded. She calls on the Valar, who gifted her to use their favors in battle, but does not understand much about them. She is familiar with Orome, the Rohirrim's god of war, and calls his light to her often when fighting. Morals are what keeps Cay going in the face of danger and despair. She believes in balance above all things; that the darkest shadows, meaning evil and hurt, are cast by the brightest lights, made of goodness and healing. She thinks that all actions are reciprocal, though not neccessarily causing reactions of the oposite. She's a fan of karma, though does not know that's what it's called. Cay constantly talks about lightness and darkness. To her all people carry a measure of light within them their whole lives; some people choose to hide their light with the deepest of shadows, but it's still there. She also feels that her purpose in life is to bring light in the form of hope and inspiration to dark places; to her, the darker paths in life seem easier because you cannot see the obstacles in your way. The path of light, and therefore goodness, is brightly lit and harder but leads to rewards beyond measure.
Under what circumstances would your character lie, cheat,
steal, betray, or kill?
Cay would not steal if she had something to give. Out of the three, she would be most likely to kill; if a situation warranted doing and of them for a great good or to help her friends, she would do any of them but feel guilty for it.
Is there anything she would absolutely refuse to do?
Intentionally harm a friend. Even if it was for a great good or to save herself or others, she could not bring herself to do it.
What would she do if she suddenly became rich?
She would buy herself a tavern. Her code of right and wrong and her way of life would not immediately allow her to settle down, but she would share her wealth generously with her friends to help them leave their service in battle. She would use the money as a cushion for when she finally feels she can retire.
Can she keep a secret?
Oh yes.
Is there anything your character would die (permanently) for?
To save a friend. She would give her life to stop the advancing shadow the world faces, if the good of her passing outweighed the loss of her absence as a healer. She values her own life only in terms of how it can serve others.
Sins and virtues:
How susceptible is she to the Seven Deadly Sins vs. the Seven Contrary Virtues?
Pride vs. Humility: Humility. She is not a prideful person, except for being proud of her friends.
Envy vs. Kindness: Cay feels envy only for folks who are less battle-weary than she is. She is unfailingly kind.
Gluttony vs. Abstinence: She's not a glutton at all. She abstains from most of the luxuries in life even when they are available to her.

Greed vs. Liberality: She's not greedy. She shares everything she can, even when she denies herself.
Sloth vs. Diligence: She's a worker. She can't slow down, though hopefully someday she can enjoy some laziness.
How predisposed is she to the Four Cardinal Virtues?
Prudence: In many matters, she is very prudent.
Temperance: She strives to be the very picture of it.
Courage: She actually wishes she were braver, though if courage is defined as facing one's fears, she's pretty courageous.
Justice: If she can't serve justice herself, she believes it will be done eventually regardless.
...To the Three Theological Values?
Love: She loves people as much as she allows herself. She does not believe in altruistic love, at least from other folks, though she would like to hope she can give it. She's a bit wary of non-platonic declarations of love from living a very sheltered and guarded life.
Hope: As an optimist, Cay is always a bearer of hope. There have only been a few moments she's been hopeless, but that's what makes her human.
Faith: Cay has faith, not in a religious sense. She believes in the goodness at the heart of even the most corrupted people. She lives by her faith that good will come of all evils.
...To the Seven Corporal Works of Mercy?
Feed the Hungry:
Drink to the Thirsty:
Shelter to Strangers:
Clothe the Naked:
Visit the Sick:
Minister to Prisoners:
Bury the Dead:
To all of these, Cay is a servant. Her personality is the essence of a healer, and she would do whatever she could to ease people's pain and needing and heal them. Because she is in such close contact with death all the time, she respects the dead very much.
Politics:
How important is politics to your character?
Politics is a very vague notion to Ceallian. She only knows what is asked of her to further the causes of light and peace.
Is she politically active?

Cay wants to settle down and live a quiet, unremarkable life where she is unknown and untroubled. That is very different than her place in society now.
Goals and motivation:
What are your character's goals (short and long term?)
Cay's short term goals are to serve as well as she can as a healer, motivator, and mediocre warrior to increase the chances of the Free People's victory. Her long term goals, which are very cloudy and vague to her, are to settle down in her own business and lead a quiet and domestic life as a teacher of music.
What motivates her to work towards these goals?
The belief that goodness and light are what she should live for.
What does she plan to do to achieve these goals?
She's too young to plan very far ahead with any clarity or lack of emotional complications. She knows this so only lives day-to-day, helping people as she can and hoping that in the end she can slow down and relax.
How articulate is your character?
Ceallian is articulate in the right circumstances. She knows she sounds foolish and is not educated on many matters, so added to a very shy personality comes across as demure, polite to the point of coldness, and at times because of her bashfulness, like a flirtacious lass who is the very oposite of level-headed. She can be very clear and almost poetic in the right company and when she speaks of matters that are meaningful to her.
