The haggard man swayed in the saddle as the stolen gelding made it's way up the lonesome trail. The previous owner's blood still stained the leather and matted the creature's fur down its side, making an obvious display that someone had certainly been injured. That meant the back roads and country travel, which meant a good dose of pain jolting up his leg every time he had to urge the beast on. His boot was still sliced and bloodied, hanging limply out of it's stirrup. He'd wrapped a scrap of cloth around the leather to try and stop the blood from leaving such an obvious trail, but that had now soaked through and was once again dripping into the dirt below him. He was growing light headed. Shifting his reins, the glowering man guided the horse towards a lone farm house on the horizon. He needed to see to his ruin of a foot, and perhaps he would get the pleasant perk of putting a family to a painful death at the same time, certainly no one would see his face and live to speak of it.
((OOCly the chase has...er, well, is in the process of beginning. The man is a threat to the well being of folks and clearly has harmed fearless leader person, so there's a bit of a drive to see him squished. In addition, I suspect other things will come to light regarding his dangerousness or his involvement in other plots. At the moment he is fairly undeveloped and might remain so, but I wanted to get an idea of people's interest on spicing it up a little, maybe he might have some friends to make Mae's life difficult, or try and finish the job (failing of course).
What will be happening, spicing or no, is a long trek to find the culprit and bring him to justice. Who intends to lead the expedition is up for grabs, though I'm sure Mae and Phaerel will be on the path all along. The plan at the moment is to go on a very long IC journey, literally walking on foot from the gates of Bree up the path to where the man is hiding, taking occasional breaks, meals, stopping at night and posting a watch, etc. The general idea for it is to try and recreate the feeling of a real journey.
The troubles are that the days in Lotro are rather...long, and thus roleplaying, for example: "*sleeps*" for 2 hours wouldn't be very entertaining, as real as it may be. Also, it's going to be difficult to get everyone together all at the same time to make the drawn out journey all in one go. So Mae's suggestion is we do it in a few different sessions. Walk to one waypoint, stop there for the night and continue roleplaying if we wanted, or stop there and pick up another day. People who want to be on the journey but maybe miss a session or two could simply be out scouting ahead for the purpose of roleplaying.
Anyway we wont be starting it up for probably a week or so to make sure that everyone has time to get on board that wants to, and to figure out what we're doing with baddy guy. What I'd like to hear is if we have some interest though! We could use two types of players for sure: Trackers and henchmen.
Trackers / info gatherers: Most importantly to find where the guy is hiding out. He's a known criminal in smuggling rings and between the two names we have people should definitely be able to find some info on him. His routes ran as far south as Gondor, so anyone with connections down there might have something.
Henchmen: A guy like this would have at least a couple thugs he'd work with to keep him safe, or to run deals for him or whatnot. These could be messengers or guys sent to harass us all, or simply for the final encounter. I'm thinking it'll be a bit sad to just execute gimpy without a fight
We might be able to use some extras too, some folks who just happened to see him run by or were assaulted or whatnot, but I think I should be able to handle any call for alts like that, just let me know and I'll cook one up.
And again, please post thoughts or objections or requests or anything!
