Colts wanders into the Bree-Town Hunting Lodge to get supper. Cavanaugh is sitting there eating already.
Cavanaugh glances up from his meal when the door opens once more, a light smile crossing his face in recognition and greeting.
Coltsfoot beams brightly at Cavanaugh, dropping her usual front in this fairly empty room.
Cavanaugh bows lightly. "Miss Coltsfoot. I'd not expected to see you again so soon."
Coltsfoot says, 'Aye, nor I! I was hungry an' like tha board they lay here. I can' cook so I'm always starved.'
Cavanaugh 's smile widens and he gestures to the chair beside him. "Please, join me then." He waves the waitress over and instructs her to get whatever Coltsfoot wants, on him. He sits back down, pushing his own near empty plate aside and taking up his glass of wine.
Coltsfoot sits down like a little empress and waves her hand to the waitress. "Roast an' ale and taters. Lotsa alla them."
Cavanaugh says, 'It's very good to see your appetite returned after your recent...illness.'
Coltsfoot grins up at the lass as she pulls her plate towards her and begins cramming food in her mouth with little decorum. 'Aye, I was always hungry before an' more so now!'
Cavanaugh lifts his wineglass to his lips for a light sip, smiling along the rim at her fervour. He sets the glass back down, fingers playing lightly on the stem. "So, only a taste for the food here brings you back to Bree?"
Coltsfoot shakes her head, a sliver of carrot dangling from the corner of her mouth. "No, I was lookin' fer Ciaphias. We was s'posed ta meet here but I don' see him." She takes up a roasted potato in her fist and gnaws on it, little crumbs flying everywhere in her attack. 'Ya seen him?'
Cavanaugh tips his wineglass over just enough to swirl the red liquid around inside. "I did, indeed, just this morning at the Pony."
Coltsfoot says, 'I passed Mae at tha gates an' she had almost nothin' ta say ta me.....' She trails off, arching an eyebrow as she shoves a chunk of bread into her mouth. "Aye? Where?"
Cavanaugh sighs lightly. "I fear Lady Maewynne has a lot on her mind at the moment, not the least of which is the opinions of her people." He nods. "He, the Lady Maewynne and I spoke a bit concerning recent...events."
Coltsfoot doesn't stop eating but slows down her considerably frenzied pace as she looks at Cavanaugh. "Whatcha mean?"
Cavanaugh says, 'I fear the conversation left Master Ciaphias...upset by the memory of what you went through. He became angry with Lady Maewynne over...some matter...and left abruptly. It upset her greatly.'
Coltsfoot drops her half-devoured slab of roast and shoves her plate away. "An' he left? Aye. He does that. Leaves me all alone. I never know if he'll be back."
Cavanaugh smiles. "But, he's your husband. Surely that comes into play when he feels the need to flee difficult situations? Does he not share his burdens with you.?'
Coltsfoot snorts and plays with her food. "Hardly. He's a stubborn idiot. Whass got him so upset? I thought he was done wit' this.'
Cavanaugh glances down to his wineglass, thumb and two fingers still caressing the stem lightly. He shakes his head. "I fear it's not my place to say."
Coltsfoot opens her mouth for a moment and clamps it shut. She nods.
((Kedwyr enters the Lodge and approaches the table.))
Kedwyr nods to Cavanaugh.
Cavanaugh pauses a moment before speaking once more. "I'm certain Ciaphias loves you dearly, or he'd not have gotten as upset as he apparently did during the incident and the recent conversation." He glances over, almost frowning at the Elf's presence.
Coltsfoot looks up to Kedwyr, wiping her greasy hands on her leggings. 'Aiya, herunya.'
Kedwyr says, 'Suilannad. Odd place to find the two of you.'
Coltsfoot looks back to Cavanaugh. "He does this. I always hope he don't get killed. Supper was palatable. I'm off ta see if I can't catch him afore he's off."
Cavanaugh tips his head in greeting, not expecting the same in return. "Master Kedwyr."
Coltsfoot looks over to Kedwyr. "I'm always hungry now that I'm better. An' tha fare here is best in alla Bree-Town."
Kedwyr nods to Cavanaugh with a mild politeness.
Cavanaugh nods and stands to see her off.
Coltsfoot says, 'Ya might want ta see about Mae if yer around tha Kin house. She's a bit...off taday. Saw her on her way outta tha gates. She looks sad.'
Kedwyr says, 'Indeed? Why is she sad?'
Coltsfoot looks over to Cavanaugh almost shyly. "Yer a fit Long-Legs. P'raps ya should see ta Mae too? She's in Lothrellin, Falathorn. She'd like ta see ya I'm sure." Coltsfoot shrugs to Kedwyr. "I dunno. Lass nonsense. Ask this one. Same reason Ciaphias ran off this time."
Cavanaugh glances over to the Elf, wondering if that was addressed to him, then looks back to Coltsfoot. "Aye. She was very upset earlier." He hesitates. "If I'd not be intruding.."
((Kedwyr leaves and Coltsfoot follows him.))
