So, what does everyone do when they need a break from the game? I'll kick things off with my geekiness.
Aside from what has been noted in my Meet the Officers thread, I have a couple of hobbies:
Since 1988, I've been an active member of the Society for Creative Anacronism. We're an international organization that studies and recreates a time period spanning roughly from the fall of Rome to the renaissance. Members create a character that could have lived in some corner of the world during some part of the mentioned time frame. Here's a picture of myself several years ago, Connor MacLaine, Scots Pirate:
As part of this hobby, I teach renaissance rapier combat (fencing). I just feel strange if I don't have a sword in my hand a couple of times a week.
My otheraddiction erm. Hobby. Is paintball. Strangely, the first time I was involved in the sport, back in the mid '80's, I didn't really get into it. About 7 ago, while helping a couple of friends (and fencing students) move into their apartment, I discovered they had paintball markers. We talked a bit about the sport, and the next weekend they had me out to the local field. I think I still have the hole in my cheek where the hook went in. I now play a couple of times a month, with a local woodsball team, and I'm going to school when I can afford it to learn airsmithing (That's paintball gun repair).
Here's the mugshot they took of me for my student ID:
The young lady that took this picture said I looked like James Hetfield of Metallica. Personally, I don't see it, but to each their delusions. ;D
